Tips for keeping a healthy smile and avoiding
white spots:
- Brush thoroughly after every meal and snack
(up to 4x a day)
- Use a prescription strength fluoride toothpaste (Clinpro 5000 or Prevident)
- Floss once a day (floss lower teeth in the morning and upper teeth in the evening)
- Use M.I. paste every night before bed
- Rinse with ACT mouthwash daily
- Take your time with your nightly brushing to avoid leaving food or plaque on your teeth
- Avoid sticky, chewy, and hard foods (all are capable of harming teeth and braces and prolonging treatment)
- Minimize amount of sugar you eat or drink. Any sugar left on teeth will cause decalcification and eventually cavities
- While in braces try and have a cleaning every 4 months to keep teeth in healthy condition
- Try and have a regular routine and be consistent
o While in the shower let the water hit your
teeth and brackets, turning yourself into a waterpick.
