About the Doctor

Lisa King, DDS, MS        

Dr. Lisa King is a native of Louisiana and attended Centenary College, where she graduated with high honors and a BS in Biology in 1984.  She began working in the orthodontic office of Dr. Doyle Baldridge while in college.  Dr. King completed dental school in 1988 at the University of Tennessee Dental School in Memphis.

She completed her orthodontic residency in 1990, also at UT where she received the Faculty Clinic Award for superior performance in patient care and orthodontic technique. She received additional training in surgical orthodontics and dentofacial deformities at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center /Parkland Hospital in Dallas Texas. 

Dr. King moved to Albuquerque in 1992 and joined Dr. Arthur Hawkins in his orthodontic practice. She practiced on Wyoming Boulevard for ten years before moving her practice to its current location. With her additional training and interest in care of patients with a Cleft lip/palate and other craniofacial anomalies, she has served the state of New Mexico's craniofacial teams in Santa Fe and Albuquerque, as well as the University of New Mexico Hospital.

Dr. King is a  Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.  Board certification is an elective process that includes an examination to assess the knowledge, skills and clinical expertise in providinig quality patient care.  Completion of this process is an indication of an orthodontist's commitment to a high level of treatment excellence.  These qualities and cooperative patients allow her to create a Simply Sensational Smile for each patient! 

She is a member of many leading dental organizations, including the American Association of Orthodontists, American Dental Association, New Mexico Dental Association and the Albuquerque District Dental Society.  Study clubs include the Alexander Discipline Study Club of North America, the Texas Orthodontic Study Club and the Edward H. Angle Society, Southwestern Component and the Charles Tweed International Study Club.  Interaction with colleagues in these groups keep Dr. King aware of  the latest orthodontic technology, office management practices and team training.

Dr. King enjoys camping with her family:  husband, Bob and stepdaughter, Christy.  She also enjoys, spinning, pilates and yoga.  Time at home is usually spent gardening and playing with her Labrador Retrievers.
